Jane Hughes

As Director of Communications and Public Engagement, Jane is responsible for maintaining and building the reputation of the Crick, for promoting the organisation’s work and for leading a comprehensive programme to engage and inspire people with science and with the Crick’s research.

Jane spent much of her career in BBC News, most recently as Health Correspondent. She joined the Crick in April 2018 having been Associate Director of Communications at the Royal College of Nursing. Prior to that, as Director of Communications at Rethink Mental Illness, she led work to raise awareness of mental illness and campaigns to improve services and treatment.
