Introduction

We want our people to get the most out of their time at the Crick, so we offer a variety of training and support for career development.

Our people are the key to achieving our ambitious aims and so we invest in their learning and career development.

Tailored development programmes, excellent on-the-job training, and opportunities to share skills, experience and expertise support a unique learning environment where you will have the tools to:

  • excel in your role
  • develop new skills
  • and pursue your own career aims.

Everyone shares in the responsibility for learning and you will be encouraged to keep your technological, personal and professional skills up to date. Cutting-edge scientific training supports our mission of research excellence. Leadership development and performance management activities equip people to achieve their goals and contribute to the success of the institute.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study. They can be open to new recruits or existing staff.

An apprenticeship is a job with an accompanying skills development programme. Apprentices gain the technical knowledge, practical experience and wider skills they need for their immediate job and future career. This happens through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training and the opportunity to practice new skills in a real work environment.

When suitable job roles become available, the Crick endeavours to offer apprenticeship opportunities and we encourage a wide range of people to apply, especially from the local area.

We advertise new apprenticeships alongside other Crick vacancies, and we encourage existing staff to consider if a Professional Apprenticeship Programme would be appropriate for them as a development opportunity.
