Bram is from the Netherlands where he obtained first and second degrees in bioengineering from Wageningen University.

He obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sheffield, where he also worked as a Research Councils UK fellow and lecturer.

In 2009 he established and ran the proteomics facility at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre in Hammersmith. In 2012 he moved to Cancer Research UK’s London Research Institute to manage the proteomics platform at Clare Hall laboratories until its relocation to the Crick in 2016.

He manages a team of ten people at the Crick and a suite of nine high-end mass spectrometers. The platform provides proteomics services to approximately 80 Crick research groups in anything from routine to bespoke and complex analyses.
